SIMONE IACAZ

Filmmaker, videomaker and photographer specialized in Data Management

If You are here, You might have a project that generates valuable materials: video shootings, photographs or an audiovisual heritage, which needs to be constantly accessible by your team, organised and secured. Furthermore, You want to ensure this material remains intact right through your project and beyond.

In this section, You will find informations about my professional background, my working methods and the projects to which I have contributed, including jobs on set, social media works and photos. Among them, You may find a documentary that was screened at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

If You are looking for someone to handle the technical and organisational aspects of your project, scroll down or contact me directly!

The material You no longer have time to go through:

A film production, a photo shoot and a one-off event. All of these processes share one key characteristic: they generate audiovisual material which, if lost or corrupted, cannot be recovered.

There is no possibility for a second take of a once-in-a-lifetime interview, nor is there any way to reshoot a wedding or a perfect film scene that no longer exists.

This is where my professional expertise can assist You: I am responsible for protecting, organising and ensuring the traceability of every file generated by the production process, from the first take to final delivery.

Because the primary risk on a set is not technical, but human: a memory card formatted by mistake, a backup that has never been checked, a jumble of folders that wastes whole days reorganising in post-production.

The discipline that holds it all together:

My background is more technical than narrative: I have an ITS diploma in Cinema and TV (CFU. 5) and a background in editorial graphic design (CFU. 6). I work as a filmmaker on documentaries, short films and web content, and as a photographer specialising in reportage and portraits.

The skill I bring to every set is data management. It's a part of the workflow that nobody notices but, when it went missing, takes its toll in post-production.

1. Data Management

Management, backup and verification of footage shot on film, advertising and corporate video. Organisation in accordance with the 3-2-1 rule, file integrity checks using checksums, management of CDLs and ALE logs, creation of the colour pipeline and folder structure for post-production.

For documentaries, dedicated archive management (archive producing): sourcing footage, tracing sources, organising archive material and signing release forms.

2. Film & Documentaries

I offer collaboration and support on film and documentary productions, ranging from short films to independent feature films. I have experience both in organising shoots and in supporting the photography department.

Furthermore, I possess skills as a Sound Mixer, Script Supervisor and Video Editing Assistant.

3. Social Media & Videomaking

Concept development, shooting and editing of audiovisual content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social media, commissioned by content creators, organisers of public events or professionals who require carefully crafted videos that are consistent with their brand identity.

4. Photography & Reportage

Backstage shooting of film sets as well as events and once-in-a-lifetime moments: weddings, sporting events, public gatherings and private celebrations.

Years of hands-on experience, spanning both film shoots and live events, enable me to guarantee technical proficiency and careful framing even in unpredictable or unrepeatable conditions: no important moment should be missed due to an avoidable error.

I apply the same organisational approach to data management: every photograph is delivered in its entirety, with backups and full traceability.

My work is invisible:

A director, a DoP and/or an editor must be able to focus exclusively on their artistic vision, without having to worry about where the files end up, whether the backup has been carried out correctly, or whether the folders contain all the files needed for post-production.

My role is precisely to take responsibility for managing all these technical and organisational aspects, so that the artist never loses sight of their artistic identity and always has the material they need to work with at their disposal.

In the absence of effective management, the cost is not merely theoretical: it is time wasted reconstructing what could simply have been salvaged, or, in the worst-case scenarios, irreparable material that disappears forever.

Before the problem arises

Whether You are organising an event, managing an audiovisual archive heritage or planning a low-budget production without a dedicated data management, now is the right time to discuss this.
