"Nino. 18 giorni" chronicles Nino D'Angelo's preparations for a concert event marking his return to the stage. Through rehearsals, memories and family gatherings, Toni's camera crafts an intimate diary in which the public and private spheres merge, painting a portrait of an immensely popular artist and, at the same time, of a man grappling with time, memory and his connection to his roots.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES:

My father remains a mystery to me: we are very close yet also very distant. I speak Roman dialect and was raised in an affluent environment; he speaks Neapolitan and was born into poverty. His tremendous success in the 1980s resulted in a significant rift between us, which has always motivated me to delve into his life before he became known as 'Nino'. Using a traditional video camera would have constituted an invasion of privacy; however, with a smartphone, I was able to maintain the appropriate distance, as if taking notes in pencil. "Nino. 18 giorni" thus becomes a pretext for telling the story of who Gaetano was before he became Nino, who Nino was before he became my father, and where we have ended up together. The result is the story of a man who gave a voice to millions of Italians, and who encapsulated the popular and poetic soul of a country with many contradictions.

Luca and Amelia live a couple life ruled by routine. Being together for about 15 years, their relationship follows a rather traditional separation of roles: Luca is the main provider while Amelia takes care of the house. They have no children or pets, and their marriage is the result not only of love, but mostly of other people's expectations. Everything unravels when, one evening during dinner Amelia confesses to Luca that she has poisoned him.

"Il Velo e La Pelle" is a 15-minute short film written and directed by Valeria Fusco. The project is largely supported by students attending the ITS Rossellini.
